The Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Wednesday, May 31 for Ocean Tribe Outfitters, a new retail space supporting the mission of the Sanibel Sea School.

“Ocean Tribe Outfitters is a great compliment to the Sanibel Sea School,” said Chamber President Ric Base. “We applaud its mission of improving the ocean’s future, one person at a time.”

The Ocean Tribe Outfitters will specialize in paddling gear, including kayaks, stand up paddleboards and related accessories, as well as equipment and clothing for ocean recreation. The organization’s team of marine educators spend thousands of hours in the field each year, and are available to recommend their favorite products to customers.

“Paddling, especially paddleboarding, is one of our favorite ways to explore the ocean at Sanibel Sea School, so making the sport more available to others was an easy choice for us,” said Dr. Bruce Neill, the organization’s Executive Director.

SUP rentals are available and can make a convenient way to take various boards for a test run before making a purchase. All profits from the store will fund the nonprofit’s programs, including scholarships and ocean outreach programs for students in need.

Sanibel Sea School and its Ocean Tribe Outfitters are located at 455 Periwinkle Way. Learn more at sanibelseaschool.org.
