The Edison home, located adjacent to the winter home of Henry Ford, features the inventor’s laboratory and botanical gardens. Henry Ford bought the property next to the Edison’s and visitors can tour the home of the world’s first billionaire as well as the Edison home. Tours are from Monday – Saturday 9am – 4pm, Sunday 12pm – 4pm. Closed Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Members of the colony known as Koreshan Unity, believed that the universe existed in a hollow sphere. They set out to prove their theory on the beaches of Lee County. In 1961, the last four members deeded the land to the state. Today, visitors can fish, picnic, boat, and hike where survey experiments to prove the horizon on the beaches of Lee County curves upward were once carried out. Visitors can take self-guided tours of the settlement or a ranger-guided tour.

Spectator Sports Near Sanibel Island
The Southwest Florida area is home for spring training for Major League Baseball teams including the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins. You can also see the Everblades hockey team and the Fort Myers Miracle Baseball team. You can even visit the Naples-Fort Myers Dog Track, if you’re feeling lucky.
