Performing Arts & Entertainment on Sanibel & Captiva Islands

Theatre is alive and well here on Sanibel Island and Fort Myers. The island's lively arts are made up of one local playhouse on Periwinkle Way, a 414-seat performing arts hall at BIG Arts and a professional and amateur theater in downtown Fort Myers.

BIG ARTS ONSTAGE (Barrier Island Group For the Arts)

is the theater/dramatic arts arm of BIG ARTS, a non-profit cultural organization located at 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.  Its mission is to promote community enjoyment of the theater arts and to provide live, enriching theatrical experiences of a professional nature to the residents and visitors of Sanibel and Captiva.  The committee researches all types of dramatic performances than tries to bring a variety of productions to the island as special one night shows.  Mime and masks to comedy and drama it is all at BIG ARTS ONSTAGE.

The Florida Repertory Theatre

Florida Rep is an ensemble based company that was established in 1998 as a Not-for-Profit 501, when Producing Artistic Director Robert Cacioppo was offered the historic Arcade Theatre in downtown Fort Myers. Now, as the Florida Repertory Theatre enters its sixth season, it is pleased to boast a 66% increase in admissions, a year-round season, and many education and outreach programs which benefit both the theatre and the community. The Schoolhouse Theater

Seasoned Director, Victor Legarreta, a showman for the past 15 years, a 7 year performer at the original Old Schoolhouse Theatre, and Director at the Off Broadway Palm Black Box, brings his music back to the island with his unique, stylish brand of musical comedy. The Schoolhouse Theater lovingly named after our original old schoolhouse building, is now located at 2200 Periwinkle Way. Our facility is larger, newer, and beautiful. Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers, Florida

The Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is now celebrating its 17th Spectacular Season. The theatre entertains over 170,000 guests annually.  The facility has expanded a number of times and now includes an additional 90-seat “black-box” theatre called The Off Broadway Palm Theatre, and two banquet facilities - Café Cabaret and The Art Café.  The theatre seats 448 and can be found on Florida’s sunny west coast between Tampa and Miami.
